clarity makes things seem clar. Yes, clar.

Four hours sleep and a lot of coffee, I have had some time to think.

I will be more selective about what I post on Facebook. I want people to enjoy my memories, like I am.

I am still pissed, but I still have a lot of good photos to go.

Plus, my car seems back to "normal".

*le sigh*

changes

Hello everyone!

I renamed my blog.  I have been thinking about doing this for awhile, but a good name came to me, so there you go.  I think it suits what my style and focus.

In honor of a new name, how about an appropriate post?

Herbed Cream Cheese:
*1 package cream of neufatchel cheese (find in the same area of the store, has lower fat)
*fresh herbs, a good sized handful.  Don't use dried, it just won't be the same!
*salt
*pepper, preferably fresh ground
*garlic powder (good sprinkling) or fresh garlic, one clove crushed

Mix in food processor.  If you have a Cuisinart mixer, use that with the whisk attachment and blend till its good and whipped.  Store in airtight container in fridge.  For best flavor, let sit overnight before serving.

You can spread this on crackers, a baquette, toast, use as a dip for fresh veggies, etc.  Its delicious and I've been eating it non-stop!

Here I spread some on a baguette with some fresh garden peas on top.  So cute and dainty!  I think it would also be delicious with a good olive, tiny slice of pickle, slice of red pepper, etc sitting on top.

Yesterday nate cut a tree stump down a little further.  There was a heart, or a heart with a dagger?!  You decide!

Enjoy the remainder of your Sunday!

Native American patterns?

I am looking to knit something for my father, who is now living on a Sioux indian reservation. If anyone has come across anything or knows of anything, I'd really appreciate it.  I've googled but I'm having no luck.

Also, I'd prefer free patterns as I am not financially stable right now, but I would consider a fairly inexpensive one if I had to.

Thanks!

Really Dumb question time

So, when knitting a swatch to check gauge, is the stitches per inch based on the swatch if it's laying flat, or if you stretch it out?

Writer's Block: Lights Out

All it takes is a blackout to realize how much we rely on electricity. What's your most memorable story from a power outage?

View other answers

Ha ha ha. Which one? The one where I had an infant and it was 105F overnight and we didn't have $ for a hotel, or the one where it was 5F overnight and our town loses water when it loses power for a length of time and we spent two days uptown at the coffee shop and took showers at the homes of friends? I guess I'd have to go with the 5F overnight because that one lasted two days and the trip into town the first night of the outage was so eerie with everything being coated in ice and it being pitch black everywhere because of no power....

Awesome yarn score!

I can't take pics (camera work)right now, but I found yarn-y awesomeness at the thrift store today and I had to share! First up: 4 whole skeins (3 still un-touched, one balled) of chunky weight Misti Alpaca (100% baby alpaca fiber) in a nice dusty pink color. they were $1.99 for all 4 skeins!!!!! I am thinking a sweater, or awesome slipper socks...
Next up: 4 skeins of MANOS cottons stria yarn, which is pure Peruvian cotton (hand dyed, hand spun. I'm not sure how much there is, I have 4 labels, one yarn-shop ball, remnants from 3 ball and two sweater sleeves. This stuff is fairly light weight. I'm thinking socks for this, I don't think there's enough to complete a sweater (hence it's half-finished presence at the thrift shop). I will recycle the sleeves. It's also a dusty pink color. I may try arm-warmers for my sister in this stuff. This was $2.50 for all of it.
Also: 2 skeins of chuncky weight pink and white (plied together) 100% shetland wool One was $.75 the other was $1 (one's pretty tangled)
Last: 2 skeins of light weight 100% mohair in black. $1

All in all it was a good day for my stash. $7.50 on yarn and got nicer yarn than I usually get to use! There was also tons of that ribbon yarn stuff, originally priced at 8.50 a skein, but I really don't like knitting that stuff, so I left it there for someone else to find!

New (and proposed) gadgets...

New Gadget

Samsung LE530 32'' 1080p Television

Yeah baby, a new telly!

Samsung LE530 32" 1080p LCD - sex on a stand. We got an awesome deal with John Lewis for this telly - £399 including a 5 year warranty. We searched and searched, and couldn't find a deal as good as this.

Next up, Sky+HD... but only once they drop their £9.75/month HD subscription!!

In the process of getting everything wired up - knowing that the telly only has one SCART socket, having already bought a SCART switcher to accommodate this, and seeing that the signal loss through the switcher was quite harsh - we realised that our PS2 also serves as a fairly decent DVD player. With the PS2 going into the telly through phono sockets, the Wii through component, and the Sky+ box through SCART, it kinda occurred to us that we don't actually need a separate DVD player any more - so there's one less SCART socket needed. Our final device is a VCR, which we're keeping for historical reasons, and the ceiling high pile of VHS cassettes that we haven't replaced with DVD yet! So ultimately, we have a Sony DVD Player and a Sony VCR which are now effectively redundant.

Any takers? All reasonable offers considered. ;o)

Proposed Gadgets

Behringer Xenyx 802 MixerBehringer C-1 Condenser Microphone

A Behringer Xenyx 802 Mixer and 2 Behringer C-1 Condenser Microphones.

I've been podcasting for nearly 18 months now, and I've been using the same kit since I started. A laptop and a headset. I always thought that the quality from that headset was excellent, and I never had any complaint about the audio quality. That is until last week. I contributed some audio towards a promo for the Association of Music Podcasting. You can listen to it here. You can tell which part is me from a mile off, because my audio is so much brighter and... well... tinnier than everyone else's. With one exception, but his audio is pretty lo-fi anyway.

Anyhoo, it made me very much aware that if I'm going to take this podcasting lark seriously (and I am trying to) then I need to make a bit of effort in my production quality. I've had recommendations from a number of people on the mixer, and I've chosen the mics based on research and the reputation of Behringer. The reason for buying 2 mics? It would appear as though Caroline has attracted a following on The Bugcast, and she seems quite keen on co-hosting with me! :o)

I haven't bought these yet: I'm waiting on a quotation from one of my suppliers, to compare against a quotation I've had from an online dealer, before I make my decision who I'm going to buy from.

Supplier? Dealer? Sounds like a drug deal!!

storage?

How do you store your yarn?  Currently, I have every in either plastic bags or milk crates scattered around the apartment and am looking to get a little more organized.  I'm interested in hearing how (and why) you store your yarn.  Sealed containers?  Open air?  In sealed bags in open containers?  By fiber content?  By project?

I've got one of those 4 "cube" bookcases as yet unbuilt and was thinking about getting the canvas squares to put in them.  Can you think of any reason this isn't a good idea?

(I just went to pick up my skein of seasilk which, through some stash rummaging last night, ended up stuck to some Lopi...  Organizing has just taken on new priority...)

Animusic 2: Resonant Chamber

With the arrival of our new telly, I started looking for samples of HD video clips to playback on my laptop through it.

One of the search results brought back “Resonant Chamber” from the Animusic‘s second DVD, entitled Animusic 2: A New Computer Animation Video Album.

To say that I was impressed is an amazingly understated understatement, and I just had to share it.

To enjoy the full 720p HD version of this video, visit the Animusic Download page - which I would highly recommend you do.

However, if you are less bothered about the image quality and just want to know what the fuss is about, or you have the patience of a peanut and don’t want to wait for the 200+MB download, here’s the YouTube video below.

Please note that the YouTube video does not even come close to the quality of the 720p download... not even in HQ mode!! Please consider this before pressing play!!

Getting to the stuff that I remember

This was probably the height of when I was enamored with Rhiannon. I really thought that, maybe, if I stuck around long enough, she would be interested in me. Just maybe. Nope. Very gay.
